Filtration is the heart of the pool and accounts for 80% of water maintenance. The entire pool volume should be completely circulated multiple times a day. As a rule of thumb, the minimum daily filtration time is calculated as follows: water temperature divided by two. If the water temperature exceeds 30°C, we strongly recommend continuous filtration.

   • Optimizes and enhances the effectiveness of other care products.
2. Disinfection
   • Ensures hygienically perfect water.

3. Algae Prevention
   • Algae provide ideal breeding grounds for bacteria and fungi.
   • Slippery algae deposits can cause accidents.
4. Flocculation and Clarification
   • Extremely fine particles cannot be filtered out.
   • Flocculants bind these particles into larger clumps that remain in the filter.

When?

   • Perform additional chlorine shock treatments in case of issues (e.g., algae, cloudy water, slippery surfaces).

Optimal Pool Maintenance Throughout the Year

Spring Cleaning

Spring cleaning should be done once a year, ideally in the spring. Walls, floors, and filter sand should be free from dirt, lime deposits, algae residues, and microorganisms. Only then can care products be fully effective. Don’t forget to clean the filter.

Refilling

After thorough cleaning, refill the pool:

• When refilling, add a liquid agent for moderately hard water immediately. This prevents a pH increase. The calcium contained in the water can settle on pool walls and floors.
  • Effects of calcium deposits: Rough pool walls and calcified filter sand.
• Note: The pH level may rise quickly in the first few days after refilling. Check it weekly and adjust as needed.
• Perform a basic disinfection or a chlorine shock treatment.

Vacation Maintenance

If you don’t have an automatic dosing system, ensure proper disinfection and algae prevention while away. Ideally, cover the pool with a tarp and keep the automatic circulation running daily.

Winterizing Your Pool

1. Maintain a pH level of 7.0 to 7.4.
2. Perform a chlorine shock treatment.
3. Lower the water level.
4. Distribute the appropriate dose of winterizing chemicals in the pool.
5. Drain the external pipes.
6. Place ice buffers, such as wooden blocks or Styrofoam, in the water to absorb ice pressure.
7. Cover the pool with a protective tarp.
